Discrete Single Photon Avalanche Diodes |
|
Princeton Lightwave designs and manufactures the
highest performance Single Photon Avalanche Diodes
(SPADs) available for single photon detection in the
short-wave infrared (SWIR) wavelength range from 0.9
to 1.6 µm. PLI’s SPADs have been optimized for
Geiger-mode operation, which provides a macroscopic
avalanche current pulse in response to just a single
photon. When combined with appropriate bias
and pulse discrimination circuitry, the SPADs
provide high photon detection efficiency, very low
dark count rates, and high photon counting
repetition rates. These detectors are
available in a variety of product formats, including
modules providing free-space coupling,
fiber-coupling, integrated thermoelectric cooling
(TEC), and turnkey receiver instruments. |

| Self-Quenching Negative Feedback Avalanche Diodes |
Princeton Lightwave’s PNA-20X series NFAD is a new breed of photon-counting
device consisting of InGaAs/InP avalanche diodes with monolithically integrated
negative feedback to provide stable high-performance single photon response in
Geiger mode operation. PLI’s NFAD has excellent photon-counting capability in
the shortwave infrared (SWIR) band, with high internal gain (10^5 to 10^6), very
consistent pulse response distributions, and fast response coupled with
excellent timing resolution. The NFAD operates with just a simple DC bias
voltage and does not require any gating or quenching circuitry.
