Customers look to PLI to provide completely integrated, ready-to-use, optical sub-system level products. This requires a deep understanding of overall system requirements, as well as the ability to optimize various sub-element designs. Apart from the device and module level technical capabilities described above, PLI also has core technical skills in engineering the appropriate electronic, mechanical and optical interfaces, as well as built-in, proprietary firmware to perform the required signal and data processing.
Examples of sub-system level products include:
- Optical Channel Monitor units for monitoring power, wavelength and OSNR of signal channels in a telecommunications DWDM system
- Line-scan cameras with Camera Link interfaces that integrate detection capability in the visible and IR wavelengths
- Laser-based IR lighting systems with built-in driver electronics and thermal management
- Single Photon Detection Instruments with gating circuitry for quantum cryptography and sensing.
